The Dahilayan Fun

It was four days after mother's day. My mother and her friends planned to visit Dahilayan Adventure Park, famous for it ziplines, for a post celebration. It is located in Camp Philips, Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon. It was dawn and we have to get ready to enjoy the ride all the way from Iligan City, Cagayan de Oro and towards Bukidnon.

Happy mother's day Ma.

Mama and her friends
We stopped over to pee and looked for a good place to have breakfast unfortunately the park signages signals us to go straight ahead. So we keep the pace until we arrived.

We ended up having breakfast there and manage to marvel at the view since we arrived to Camp Philips. I revel at the thought of my memories during the days in college were we did our field trips and thesis. I missed it. The fact though that I have some oldies to go with actually restricts some of the things I do. I'd love to have more stop overs and have pictures taken but alas I can't. I enjoyed it still.

Dahilayan has different mountain resorts located nearby. We rented a small gazebo for Php 200.00 to have a place to rest on the Pine Grove Mountain Lodge.

A cute chow-chow obeying his master because he can't contain his happiness.
So glad that we went out for a horse ride. I'd like to be able to learn how to ride it on my own someday.

Dahilayan Adventure Park house the Zipzone, one is 840 meters and other is 320 meters. I love ziplines the thrill and thought that somehow you are flying. Of course I took the 840 meters.

There are still so many adventures to conquer and I will when I come back someday.

The Forest Park another juncture of the whole Dahilayan fun houses the other rides plus. It also has a mini forest, animal sculpture and a little more family friendly for picnics and picture taking.

Wonderful views from here.

Who said foxy old ladies can't play?

Good thing it's not real.

Temporary boyfriend for the day.
Getting to take the 840 meter ride and enjoying the laughter of these mothers I did have so much fun. Thanks again wonderful ladies, until next time.

How to get there, accommodation, rates and adventure: (I decided to take and scan tariffs for more detailed information)

Road Trip to Dapitan City

My sisters and I have been planning for years to go to Dakak Park and Beach Resort. It wasn't until this year that this plan has materialized. Not as fancy as my thoughts but definitely very fun. From Molave, we went to Ozamis City Airport and send off my aunt and cousin who is bound for Cebu. We head then to Ozamis Budget Rent-a-Car and head off to Dapitan City.

We had to stop at Jimenez, Misamis Occidental, to visit St. John the Baptist, a 150-year old church and to pee too. From Jimenez, we had lunch at Rhovic's Place in Oroquieta City. We had a sumptuous meal and the tab wasn't on me which makes it more yummy. Then we drive non-stop to Dapitan City.

Oroquieta City
On the way to Dapitan City, I marvel at every town we passed as everything is so clean. Clear waters, blue skies and greens. I can't forget passing Pinan, the solemn slightly eerie but super serene river embedded in the picturesque pasture. I can still see it on my mind. This makes the trip relaxing and enjoyable.

Little did I know you have to cross mountainous terrains (but it is cemented, just exaggerating a bit) to get to Dakak. I was in awe that the resort was a whole mountain and that cliffs are "cove-ing" the beach. It was a perfect sunset as we arrived late. Perfect beach for a wonderful summer for my family.

I reserved a room good for ten, the room was spacious and had many beds and bathrooms. I couldn't believe that I made a good bargain Php 8000 and it comes with free tickets to Gloria's Fantasyland, the only theme park in Mindanao.

We had mouth watering dinner at Kamayan ni Manay. It is beside Fantasyland so we walked our way to dreamland. They had shows and the shows are very commendable. The performers did pirouettes and wonderful acrobatics. I dreaded some of the rides especially the roller coaster and that Galleon ride. I was practically screaming at the top of my lungs. But that night, despite my wobbly knees, was concluded with a blast.

Although we are bound to stay overnight only and wasn't able to go to Aliguay, did ATV and ziplines, we went skinny-dipping on the beach. Sun-bathing was understatement, we had all the sunblocks but Mr. Sun was happily shining on us as we hit the water and splashing water at each other. My mother who is afraid of waters was teased. We brought her to slightly deep part. We laughed so hard at the thought that my mom cried out loud for help to my departed father.

Then after waving goodbye to the beach, taking showers and checking out from the hotel, we head to Rizal Park. It is were our national hero, Dr. Jose P. Rizal was exiled. He had a great deal of influence on the people there. Replica and some original works, clothing and buildings were made and are still standing on the park. The parks also houses century old trees on and before the time of Rizal. The original well-noted water system of Rizal still stands. Astonishingly, Rizalistas or people who believed that Rizal is their god, runs the cleaning of the place.

Rizal found his one true love in Dapitan City, the foreigner Josephine Bracken. They usually nest their sweet love on the heart-shaped natural rock formation. BF and I didn't miss the opportunity to have our pictures taken. Blast in the past romance in the rock is evident.

We bid goodbye to Dapitan and once again made way back to Ozamis City. We had lunch at Robert's Catery and Traveller's Inn. We also stopped by Clarin's Suman Center for pasalubong. While BF and I were dropped off to go home, my cousins, sisters and my mom were still headed to Cuta in Ozamis City. Cuta is one of the remaining Spanish-walled stations which houses a chapel and Spanish colonial battle weapons. I haven't been there for a long time. If I wasn't hastily bound for home due to work it have been nice to go there. There is always a next trip though. :)

Here are tariff's for more information on the trips. Go to respective websites linked above for further information and reservations.

Molave, Zamboanga del Sur

It is April 27th again and its time to celebrate San Vicente Ferrer Fiesta. My mother, sisters, boyfriend and I are rushing to go to Molave, Zamboanga del Sur from different directions. My parents grew up there and almost all of my relatives are there so from time to time we go and visit them.

According to wikipedia, Molave is approximately 38 km from its capital Pagadian City and 58 km to Ozamis City. It is full of greens and farms. It is a really simple town were most people know each other. As I haven't gone there for about 3 years or more, Molave now has recognizable changes. Lots of improvement I must say but old-hometown-kind-of-feeling is still there.

I love going home to Molave. I love seeing my old relatives and cooking some old recipes. I also love the laughs. There is nothing more fun than spending time with your family and talking endlessly of the past and the new.

After the fiesta, we went to one of Molave's hidden treasures, Eriberta Spring Resort. I have come to these place countless times when I was young. It is a spring pool though still crudely developed, Eriberta is a great place to relax and enjoy. The best to time to do so is on the weekdays were there are less people coming.

The greatest surprise of Eriberta is the beautiful small lagoons and falls situated just after the pools. I hope that they keep the beauty of these place and make it clean. We had so much fun appreciating it. God is really good.

How to get there
  • If you are coming from CDO, you can take a bus going to Ozamis City and transfer rides from Ozamis Bus Terminal take the bus going to Pagadian or Molave directly presumably the price is between Php 200-300. Or you can take a bus directly going to Pagadian from CDO and then stop at Monte Alegre and wait for a bus going to Molave. I prefer this trip rather than taking the Ozamis trip since it is not as time consuming.
  • Barge trip: Php 25.00 Mukas to Ozamis
  • From Ozamiz City Airport, take a tricycle about Php80-100 higher cost since it is a special trip. Go to the bus station and take the bus to Molave.
  • Going to Eriberta may require you to hire vehicles to get there. It is quite off town and needs a guide that is from Molave. Hiring is negotiable.
Hotel and Accomodation
  • Molave Guesthouse and Alexandria Hotel which I think costs Php 800-1500, fully air-conditioned rooms
  • Eriberta Spring Resort entrance fee is Php 25 and a modest accommodation cost Php 500 for non-aircon and Php 600 for air-condition rooms
 Pasalubong

  • Okay-okay or flee markets are best here. I found wonderful clothes and even curtains.
  • Fruits are cheap in Molave.

LastApril 23, 2013, the Iligan Dog and Cat Doctor Animal Clinical Center held the first ever Doggie Run in Iligan City. It is spearheaded by theowner Dr. Miguel Paolo C. Cabreros in cooperation with the Inner Wheel ClubRanaw Circle of Friends, Iligan City Government and Konica Digital Photo Express. The theme is “MY PET, MY RESPONSIBILITY”.

Registration area are held in booths of the sponsors, Dunkin donuts and Sun cellular.
Dr Cabreros open the event and announcing the run will start soon.

Itis my first time to join a fun run because of busy schedules but this I made anexception. I am a dog lover and have been surrounded all my life with pets. Itis an opportune time for my Peanut and Moccah to meet other dogs and have fun.
Our beloved Kuya has arrived, Moccah and Peanut excited for the fun run.
Theassembly time was 5:00 am at Iligan City Plaza. We arrive just in time for therun. We registered and enjoyed watching the other dogs and owners. HoweverMoccah and Peanut were frantic with the loud music, seeing the large breed dogsand the people passing around and appreciating them.
The frantic Moccah wants to climb to Ate's arms.
People and pets are assembling to start the run.
On your marks, ready, GO!
Therewere four categories. These are the 1.5 k with dogs, 3k with dogs, 1.5 kwithout dogs and 3k without dogs. The package of the run included alsoanti-rabies vaccination. Various people with different walks of life joinedalong with their pet dogs and even a troop of soldiers joined the event. Siberianhuskies, golden retrievers, chow chows, Labradors, German shepherds, toy dogsand mixed breed puppies joined.
For the 1.5k run, the route is from Aguinaldo St turning to Roxas Avenue and turning point is 3 meters away from the Cosmopolitan Funeral Homes. The 3k run goes all the way to Andres Bonifacio Avenue near the Petron Gas station besides Kristine's bakeshop.

This little guy is probably now so excited to run.

An acquaintance, BenjoEscalona and pet Tyler is waiting for the race. They won second prize in the 3k category.
Ready to race with her big baby.
Jogging session for this troop. We salute you.

Wejoined the 1.5 k categories since Peanut and Moccah are mixed poodle and ShihTzu. The run took about 30 minutes for us. They were hovering over me and triedto climb up to me at the start of the run but they endured until the end and surprisinglythey enjoyed. When I do take them for a walk I would drag them because theywill just sit even in 5 minutes time. I am very proud.
Happy Peanut and Kuya turning around already for the 1.5 k run.
Station for the 1.5k runners. We are thirsty.
I want 5 liters of water Dad.
Fully packed station 1, Dogs are definitely thristy.
It's good that I bought my cup. I am thirsty as hell and tired too.
He doesn't want to move after the 1st half of the run. His Daddy has to convince him to finish the race. Go for it!
Station 2 for the 3k runners.
I want this dog.
This St Bernard must have been in super heat that they decided to walk leisurely with his bestfriend.
Lets sweat this!
Jeffrey Sotto and Browny, first prize winner of the 3k run.
We just finished the race. So proud of my babies.

Afterthe run, the owners and their pets were allowed to rest and given treats.Awhile after, a doggie blessing was done led by a local priest. I was veryhappy to have them baptized of some sort. (pics)
